The Annual Town Meeting is held on the last Monday in April of each year. It is traditional to discuss the non-budget articles at this meeting, reserving the budget discussion to a continuation of the Annual Town Meeting, held in mid-June.
A Special Town Meeting is held on the second Monday in November. (If this Monday is an observed holiday, the meeting is held on the following day.) This meeting will generally focus on capital projects.
The Selectmen will call additional Special Town Meetings when the need arises.
Town elections are held on the first Monday of April. This year, the election is on April 4, 2011.
MEETINGS OF THE WRENTHAM CITIZENS ALLIANCE FOR 2010 SEASON
The Citisens Alliance continues to hold Candidates Night for people running in Town elections. This meeting was held on March 18, 2010.In Spring 2010, the Alliance produced another issue of its "The Wrentham Citizen" newsletter. The newsletter dealt with whether zoning changes, particularly zoning changes to allow growth of business/commercial areas, meet the objectives of achieving growth without the additional burden of school age children.
The Alliance continues to support scholarships at King Philip High School. The James Dolan Memorial Scholarship is for the winning essay on a subject selected by the Alliance's Board of Directors. The second award is the Sara Nadkarni Memorial Scholarship and is awarded for public service.
Other events included sponsorship of Children's Movie Night at the Library.
The Alliance held its Annual Meeting/potluck dinner on November 6. A new Board was voted in for next year.
MEETINGS OF THE WRENTHAM CITIZENS ALLIANCE FOR 2009 SEASON
November 7, 2009: POT LUCK SUPPER & ANNUAL MEETING: This meeting was held at the Trinity Church from 6 PM to 9 PM. All current members and people interested in becoming members were welcome. A tour of the Old Fiske Library was included in the event.
Other events included sponsorship of Children's Movie Night at the Library and other meetings such as the Budget Forum,MEETINGS ARE HELD AT THE FISKE PUBLIC LIBRARY (UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED) AND START AT 7:30. COFFEE AND REFRESHMENTS ARE SERVED.
